He is back. The pooch and his schematic advantage will once again be the top dog while trolling, or more accurately, standing on the sideline.

The Kansas University Jayhawks have tapped Charlie Weis as the man to replace Turner Gill and revitalize the football program in Lawrence.

As everyone remembers, Weis got off to a fast start taking Notre Dame to BCS games in each of his first two seasons as head coach. However, it was all down here from there. The Irish finished 3-9 in 2007, and a few years later Weis was relieved of his duties. His tenure in South Bend was no doubt a large failure, especially with the expectations he brought upon the program with his ego and brazen attitude.

His one year as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator was successful, but rumors of his poor relationship with Todd Haley and possibly other things, lead to his move to the University of Florida.

Now, he returns to top dog status at Kansas. However, he is a long way from Bill Self. Football runs Notre Dame and Florida, but basketball in king at Kansas. This could be helpful for Chuckie. Hopefully he has learned from his past mistakes, especially when it comes to comporting himself.

Weis does not have trouble recruiting, and clearly, he is a great QB coach and an above average offensive coordinator. However, he struggling in developing talent at ND, and he struggled in helping Brantley improve this season in Gainesville.

This is Charlie’s last chance to prove he can run a program.

The jokes on twitter comparing Weis’ girth with that of Mark Mangino have already started flowing and will continue to for quite some time.
